TuffCutter™ Bits (7 7/8"- 12 1/4")

TuffCutter replaces welded-on hardmetal with patent pending Forged-In tooth hardmetal. Tungsten carbide is the wear resistant material in tooth bit hardmetal. Conventional tooth bits use welding processes requiring heat input of around 3,000°F to properly bond hardmetal to the steel tooth. Tungsten carbide begins to dissolve into steel matrix at around 2,800°F, losing its effectiveness to resist wear. The unique PowderForged (PF) process with Forged-In tungsten carbide controls the forging temperature to 2,100°F, below the temperature tungsten carbide begins to dissolve. The result is the highest percentage of tungsten carbide with no loss of wear resistance in the industry.
