Strandex testing capabilities include raw material evaluation, weathering, andphysical property testing of finished products. Particle size distribution, moisture content, and microscopic examination are used to evaluate fiber sources. Melt flow indexingof resins determines their compatibility with the Strandex process. Evaluation of finished products for weather resistance includes water absorption and accelerated weathering in a Xenon arc chamber. Finished products can be evaluated for tensile, compressive, and flexural strength and stiffness, shear strength, nail and screw holding ability, and scratch resistance. The information gained from the testing programs can be used as an aid in both profileand formulation design.
