Sedge
There is no "silver bullet" for Sedge and control is gained over several years. Sedges grow from roots, bulbs and seeds and have a two year life cycle, so it takes at least three years to start seeing results. Customers see a slow reduction of Sedge in their yard. Customers with Sedges should take special care to bag lawn clippings and renovate low spots in the yard. Sedges are water weeds and any area that holds water will be prone to Sedge growth. Once established, Sedges rapidly spread.
Not all Sedges are treatable. Many of the clumping Sedges are not controlled with the products available on the market today. Mostly, the products control the foliage growth above ground and the Sedges quickly grow back. Unfortunately, the products also weaken the surrounding turf, creating a worse problem.
