- In detail
Refrigerated containers are insulated intermodal containers with an integrated refrigeration (reefer) unit to control temperature and humidity. The reefer unit plugs into an external power source, such as a diesel generator on a truck, or electrical sources onboard ship or at the quay.
Refrigerated containers are used to transport perishable and temperature-sensitive goods. Much of the world's food is shipped in refrigerated containers, including fruit, vegetables, dairy, seafood, meat and grain. Temperature-sensitive products, such as electronics, are also often shipped in refrigerated containers.
CAI's refrigerated equipment is built using energy efficient technology, which helps reduce overall operational costs while addressing environmental concerns.
