The hygienist is concerned with your teeth, as well as your overall oral health.
Periodic cleanings are an important part of good preventive oral hygiene practice, and included in your oral treatment plan. We also may apply dental sealants, which act as a barrier to protect the teeth against decay-causing bacteria.
X-Rays/Dental Imaging
X-Rays are an initial step in helping to determine your dental health. X-Rays assist us in locating dental decay, bone density, bone loss from periodontal disease, signs of bony degeneration, abscesses or cyst formations.
In addition to standard panoramic and bite-wing x-rays, our cephalometric X-Ray unit with digital output shows a profile image of the entire airway passage. This equipment is rarely found in dental offices and can aid in the identification of a range of breathing and speaking problems including snoring and sleep apnea.
Through the use of digital image enhancement software, a far greater range of sensitivity is possible. Conventional visual interpretation of X-ray film is limited, so this procedure increases the information our technicians detect from your films.
This assists us in earlier detection of decay, increasing the ability to preserve more of the tooth.
In addition to tooth decay, digital imaging can alert the dentist to a range of potential threats such as erosion of a tooth's enamel layer, bone and jaw related problems and more.
