Porcelain Dental Veneers
At our office in Philadelphia, porcelain veneers are applied over the course of two visits. During the first appointment, the teeth are prepared and the measurements needed to create the veneers are taken. To make room for the veneers, an extremely thin layer of enamel is removed from the tooth's surface. Once the teeth are prepared, an impression is taken that will be used to custom fabricate the porcelain veneers at a dental laboratory. Temporary veneers are placed to protect the tooth until the following visit.
Once they have been created, the porcelain dental veneers are returned to our Philadelphia office, where the patient returns for the placement appointment. During this visit, the temporary veneers are removed and the permanent ones are checked for color and fit. If the color needs to be adjusted, this can often be accomplished by altering the shade of the dental adhesive. The dental veneers are applied to the teeth, and a special light is used to harden the adhesive.
JFK Dental Care is proud to be a provider of LUMINEERS® porcelain veneers. These specially designed dental veneers are made from a unique type of porcelain, and they are extra thin to reduce the amount of tooth enamel that must be removed prior to placement. LUMINEERS® can be used to mask all of the same problems as ordinary dental veneers - cracks, chips, spaces, discolorations, and malformed teeth - with less preparation time. Only those dentists that have been trained and certified by the company that makes LUMINEERS® are authorized to provide them, so visit Dr. Dubin at JFK Dental Care if you think LUMINEERS® may be right for you.
