Description

Step by step pool construction overview

1.) Design

To begin the design process, we meet with our customers to learn their wish list of design details. We will need an updated survey of your property. Next we contact the local municipality for relevant construction and zoning codes. We visit and inspect the site and gather topographical information.

After the site information is gathered, the survey is loaded into our computer design program and the design begins. We plan each project individually to create a unique indoor or outdoor environmment that blends our customer's wish list, code requirements and aesthetic goals.

2.) Grade cut

If the site is not level, a grade cut may be required to create a level area in which to lay out the pool.

3.) Layout

In the layout phase of construction, we mark the pool's position and verify measurements.

After laying out the form of the pool, we excavate.

4.) Shell plumbing

Before plumbing the pool, we design a hydraulic plan to properly move water through the circulation system to skimmers, main drains and wall returns. We run rigid PVC plumbing throughout the project. (A balanced circulation system prolongs the life of the pool plumbing and equipment.)

5.) Steel structure

We frame and shape the swimming pool using reinforced steel rods, creating a lattice throughout the entire pool structure. This high quality steel skeleton gives superior strength to the structure.

6.) Gunite

We add concrete to encase the steel skeleton. We use highly skilled technicians to ensure that the pool we build meets and exceeds structural standards for concrete pools in the Northeast.

7.) Finishing

The finishing process involves a number of steps and some customer choices.

Coping tops off the concrete wall with a solid surface that can coordinate with other materials used in the project. Many design choices are available for the pool coping: width, thickness and textural variations are numerous.

Below the coping, porcelain or stone tile protects the pool at the waterline, a great opportunity to personalize your pool.

We finish the interior of the pool with a pneumatically-applied plaster finish. This can be a simple white material, or we can use exposed aggregate and pebble-finish upgrades to coordinate the pool interior with the rest of the project while providing superior strength.

After the concrete pool shell is installed and sufficiently cured, we run plumbing lines to pool equipment location. We pour steel reinforced concrete slab to provide a stable base for the pool equipment, ensuring that the system components cannot sink or shift. The equipment is then placed on the pad, based upon the hydraulic plan.

The landscape and hardscape components are added to complete the design. Here we give a few examples: patios, steps, and walls.
