Periodontal Infection (Gum Disease)

If you have red, swollen, tender, bleeding, or receding gums it is likely that you have periodontal infection. Unfortunately, these signs/symptoms or pain may not occur until the infection has progressed. Periodontal infection destroys the bone that surrounds your teeth; if left untreated it can lead to tooth loss. It is also important to know that periodontal infection has been linked to heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and respiratory infections. Periodontitis cannot be cured, but it can be controlled; therefore, it is important to treat it as soon as it is diagnosed. Through non-surgical periodontal therapy, we can remove the harmful bacteria and stop the infection from progressing. Once we treat the infection, we closely monitor it during maintenance visits where we will also give you all the support you need to help keep your infection under control.
