The Trans Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) was designed and constructed to move oil from the North Slope of Alaska to Valdez - the northern most ice-free port in North America. Chugach's past oil and gas experience includes three years of performance as the key Baseline Alyeska Pipeline maintenance contractor on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, which is responsible for producing 15 percent of our nation's oil supply. Chugach completed large scale construction and maintenance projects that included re-routing sections of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and performing a 36-hour shutdown to replace the Remote Gate Valve (RGV) 72. During 2009, Chugach worked 620,000 hours with no recordable injuries and not one significant environmental incident.
