Multi-layer functional coatings PP130
- Country of manufactureUkraine
PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The development is designed to increase the corrosion resistance and improve the mechanical properties of metal products surface. As well as to impart catalytic properties of the anodes surface in the organic substances oxidation reaction, such as methanol, for the fuel cells functioning
Fields of application: engineering, automotive, shipbuilding industries and alternative energy
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS, ESSENCE OF THE DEVELOPMENT
Multi - layer coatings consist of various nickel - copper alloys layers each up to 100 Nm. All periodically alternating coating layers electrochemically deposited from the same electroplating tubs.
The coating containing 50 - 80% of nickel has a micro hardness of 410 - 680 HV. It is ductile, well - bonded with an electronegative and corrosion - unstable base, such as, for instance, the neodymium magnets surface. Multi - layer coating consisting of nickel - copper alloy layers and a mixture of metals and their hydroxides have the increased catalytic activity by 1. 5 - 2 times in the electro - oxidation reactions and the stability of the surface properties compared to a single - layer coating
STATE OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PROTECTION
Received 2 patents of Ukraine for the invention
MAIN ADVANTAGES OF THE DEVELOPMENT
In comparison with the world analogues, it is possible to obtain thicker compact multi - layer coatings in industrial conditions through the use of a poly - ligand electrolyte in conjunction with the proposed electrolysis mode and surface preparation conditions. The economic feasibility of using multi - layer coatings is due to the material saving by increasing the products life and reducing the cost of their manufacture
MARKET DEMAND
On the market there is a need to replace the coating with chromium and nickel in cases of need to use a harder and at the same time fragile coating. As well as to reduce the cost of coating and increase environmental safety. The catalytic coating is necessary in the organic substances oxidation, including in the fuel methanol elements
THE DEVELOPMENT READINESS STATUS
Laboratory tests proved the competitiveness of multi - layer coatings and the possibility of their production in industrial conditions
