What are mosquitoes?
Mosquitoes are small, flying insects very common in Rhode Island and throughout New England. Like many other insects, they feed on nectar from plants; however, the female mosquito also feeds on blood from humans and animals to provide critical nutrients necessary for reproduction. The male mosquito's mouthparts are not able to pierce the skin.
