Mold problems have become a hot topic of late, not only within the restoration and insurance industry, but also the news media has covered many high profile stories which have brought broad attention to the problem.

Mold a common form of Fungi, is present almost everywhere in indoor and outdoor environments. The most common symptoms of exposure are runny nose, eye irritation, cough, congestion, headaches and aggravation of asthma; also, other severe illnesses have been attributed to exposure.

There is no practical way to eliminate all mold spores from the indoor environment. After a mold contamination, the goal is to reach a relative balance of spore count of like kind with the location's outdoor environment. The best way to control and prevent indoor mold growth is to control moisture, through proper drying of all materials and cavities after a water loss.

However, mold growth occurs when moisture is left for an extended period of time. Water dripping unknowingly in a wall or in an unoccupied unit can cause major damage to contents and structure.
