Developed for military aircraft operations, the Cargo Utility GPS Receiver (CUGR) is a complete GPS Precise Positioning System (PPS) navigation receiver and navigation management system. It meets the performance standards for Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) for enroute, terminal, and non-precision approach phases of flight as specified in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Aircraft GPS Integration Guide (GIG). A standard Positioning Service (SPS) version of the CUGR is available.
The CUGR's advanced GPS receiver allows it to calculate the aircraft position to within 16 meters RMS when operating in P(Y) mode. Along with reporting a new position every second, the CUGR's GPS receiver also measures speed to better than a tenth of a knot. Using this feature, pilots can receive position and speed information anytime, anywhere, and in any weather.
A complete navigation management system, the CUGR provides pilots with instant access to detailed flight information. After fixing a position, the CUGR instantaneously calculates and displays bearing and distance. It provides destination name, ground speed, ground track, and ETA. With the CUGR's Jeppesen NavData service, a comprehensive worldwide avionics database, pilots have access to information regarding airports, approaches, SIDS, STARS, VORs, NDBs, TACANS, airspace boundaries and more on a single card.
