Thermostats are the mainstay of all cooling systems. But they have one big flaw. They cannot detect how hard the air conditioning or refrigeration system is actually working to cool off a room. They can simply signal to the air conditioning system to continue running or to shut down.
The savings in this new method of controlling a cooling system can be considerable, as much as 50% or more on your monthly cooling portion of your bill, but they are variable based on a few simple facts:
· Most cooling systems are rated to provide a level of comfort or temperature control on the most extreme days of temperature variance.
· Most systems spend most of their time providing cooling when the extremes are not present.
· By controlling the production of cooling required to the minimum necessary instead of the "brute force" on-off wasting of energy when the temperatures required are not at extremes, one can achieve the most energy savings.
