Description
The dairy industry was much different back in 1910 when T.B. Mayfield, Jr., purchased some Jersey cows and started his business. When sons Scott and Tom took over the business after World War II, they used innovation and technology to become one of the most respected brands, not only in the southeastern U.S., but in the entire industry.
In 1955, Mayfield® introduced a piece of equipment called a Vacurator that ensured the milk always tasted fresh and delicious. In 1962, we introduced the first tamper-proof ice cream container, and in 1998, pioneered the "scround" ice cream carton design that has become an industry standard.
We've taken a leadership role in packaging with our yellow plastic container that blocks out light and protects the nutrients in milk and the introduction of single-serve Chug-style bottles, and we were the first dairy in the U.S. to add acidophilus and bifida bacterium to our milk to create Nu-Trish® a/B milk, a product that benefits digestive health.
The company provides milk, buttermilk, sour cream, cottage cheese, ice cream, novelties and frozen yogurt to customers in eight southeastern states.
