Magnesium butyrate is a salt of magnesium and n - butyric (n - butanoic) acid. On one hand, magnesium plays an important role in regulating the body’s response to stress. Studies link low magnesium intake with a higher risk for depression. Butyric acid is a short chain (C4) alkanoate with several industrial and pharmaceutical uses. One of the major applications of butyrate is in agro - industries as a feed supplement to improve animal health.
