The introduction of "self healing" hot rubber membrane waterproofing has been the largest improvement in waterproofing technology in many years. The technology is similar to the Uniroyal tire commercials you've seen with the tires that seal small cuts and keep going.
This advance has had the best application in plaza waterproofing projects. Removal of the existing soil and pavers, and the installation of new soil and pavers are all very expensive when compared with the actual waterproofing costs. Owners need the security of a long term waterproofing product maintaining long term water-tightness when investing in these costs. Hot Rubber waterproofing has established an excellent record in plaza applications. Time tested details are now in place for expansion joint, planter wall and various other applications.
The equipment used to install hot rubber correctly includes double jacketed kettles. These are critical to avoid over heating the hot rubber materials. Over heating can lead to loss of the unique physical properties properly installed hot rubber has. Lindman was one of the first to invest in these kettles at approximately $30,000 each, and we have several in each location. We install 100,000's of square feet of hot rubber each year. Projects range from 1500 sf, to 50,000 sf, but each project receives the same dedication to detail.
