Sweet Meadow Stable offers wonderful care, a beautiful full service facility at an affordable price. The stable has many levels of care to choose from and affordable prices.
Sweet Meadow is a natural care facility. This means we follow horsecare practices that mimic the life of wild horses as much as possible. We do not believe a stall is the best place for a horse- in fact, we believe the opposite. Our horses live outside with a run-in shelter that they may choose when to go in, and hay which is fed 24/7, (which means no starving between meals) and all horses here are barefoot with no shoes. We limit the use of chemicals around our horses and humans and are mindful of our fly sprays- (we actually use Avon Skin-so-soft instead.)
Why go natural? We believe it is in the best interest of horses.
Horses that are kept this natural way, develop zero bad habits of "traditional care" facility's. This means, no cribbers (horses that pull and suck on wood,) no wood chewers (horses that eat wood out of boredom,) no pacers/weavers (horses that pace their stalls all day wanting to get out) and all our horses can play, run, move freely as wild horses do. By not using stalls to "cage" horses in, you limit the exposure to urine filled beds, manure in water buckets, and the lack of social interacting with other horses, all which a wild horse would never choose. The average wild horse covers 15- 20 miles a day. This is impossible to achieve in a "traditional care" stable.
Sweet Meadow is a 5 acre farm, only two miles from the beach and minutes away from the most popular wooded trails and beach riding. With a residence on the property, the stable is well maintained with "safe fence" brand fencing to prevent injuries and warm south facing run-in sheds to fit any size animal. We also have private paddocks available for older or expecting horses.
Sweet Meadow is the most active stable in the beach area. The stable is bustling with daily lessons, boarders who come and go and our own students who lease and practice ride daily. The stable also has monthly horse shows held right on the property, clinics, guest instructor's and summer camp. An invaluable asset to any horse owner is having Shelley herself an arms reach for questions and never ending support. The stable offers endless equine programs that you and your horse can be a part of.
