Description
This Shingle-style home was once an 1800s sea captain's house with old-world architectural features throughout. In completing this whole-house renovation, Baud Builders carefully preserved as many of the original historic details as possible, such as rebuilding windows and matching woodworking and trim details with select materials. The plumbing fixtures and hardware dated back to the period and needed to be upgraded and replaced.

The main focus to this project was a major kitchen renovation; the upgrading of four bathrooms with mechanicals, electrical and plumbing; and the addition of a custom conservatory. Baud also installed central air conditioning throughout the home. For historic integrity, stones used on the conservatory’s façade were selected to match the native fieldstone used on the existing two chimneys.

A dormer was added to the third floor as part of the attic renovation. The entire front porch was removed and a new one rebuilt to a similar configuration, matching the original details of the bead board woodwork and curved railings.

Baud coordinated the design, pre-construction planning, shipping, and on-site assembly of the authentic Town & Country conservatory which was pre-crafted in England. The result is an all-season room where the homeowners can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors in the comfort of their home.
