When tank walls will no longer withstand the pressure from stored materials, gunite tank liners can be installed to restore the tank to service. Open vertical cracks in the tank side wall may indicate that a gunite tank liner may be needed.
To install a gunite tank liner, Batterton crews insert steel pins into the existing interior tank wall and place a tight lattice of rebar, over which a 4 to 5 inch coating of gunite is applied.
For just a fraction of what owners have expected to pay for repairs, this method of installing tank liners has enabled us to restore to use many elevators that would otherwise have been abandoned.
After the installation of a gunite tank liner, core samples can be taken and compression testing done in a test laboratory to determine the average P.S.I. of the gunite liner.
