Gaia™ Grain Guard Essential Oils

Gaia™Grain Guard is a compounded additive with an essential oil used to provide protection against insect infestation of grains, nuts, and seeds. This unique product eliminates the fumigation step and other dangerous chemicals that are used to store farm foodstuffs, both for domestic and export consumption.The aroma of the Gaia™ Grain Guard additive creates an invisible barrier that repels insects from the plastic bag and works as an Insect Growth regulator (IGR) within the bag, disrupting the life cycle for these pest by inhibiting the hormone needed for larvae to mature, thus stopping the infestation. Since insects breathe through their bodies, the scent or residue of the organic aroma in the plastic bag is absorbed directly into the body, therefore affecting the insect's neurological and biological systems, causing paralysis, confusion, flight response or death.

Recommendation

Gaia™ Grain Guard can be diluted down to 4% to 8% levels, depending on the molded or extruded part requirements.

EPA Exemption Status

Gaia™ Grain Guard qualifies for an exemption as a minimum risk pesticide as listed in 40 CFR 152.25 (g) (L). This product provides little risk to humans and to the environment.

Packaging, Storage and Handling

Gaia™ Grain Guard is packaged in 220 lb. foil lined drums. We recommend that this product be kept closed and kept in it's original container, away from sunlight, heat and high humidity environments. Gaia™ Grain Guard once blended should be processed and not stored for future use. Opened packages should be vacuum sealed or closed tightly to limit oxygen permeation and premature migration of essential oil additives into the atmosphere.
