Description
What makes the Fortuniana Rose rootstock better than any other rose? Our rootstock allows the rose roots to adapt to the tropical climate. The rootstock is nematode resistant, lives longer and produces more roses.
Container-grown plants grafted on Fortuniana rootstock are your best buy for the soils in South Florida. The University of Florida Agricultural Experiment Station undertook a project to find a rootstock which would increase the life and growth of roses in Florida. The results of these tests show: 1) that grafted plants perform better than plants grown from slips (stem cuttings) on their own root systems; 2) one rootstock, Fortuniana (Rosa fortuniana), performed better than any other used in grafting the test plants. Our rose bushs produce the greatest number of flowers, attain the largest size and develop less stem dieback than plants with other root systems.
