Equine Assisted Therapy
What is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy?
Equine Assisted Therapy , also known as Horse Therapy or Equine Therapy, inspires people of all ages to make significant emotional, cognitive and behavioral changes. It is an excellent tool for addressing trauma and all associated problems like, anxiety, depression, relationship issues and grief.
How Horse Therapy Works
Horses are prey animals and hyper-sensitive to their environment. This sensitivity allows them to respond and often mirror human emotions in an obvious and non-judgmental fashion. Simply put, horses don't have an agenda; they just tell it like it is. When horses communicate through their actions, people respond.
In addition, while we are in the pasture where we work, people behave in much the same manner as they do in their daily lives. They bring their mind, body, and spirit into the session in a way that is not always possible when using conventional talk therapy. This environment allows for deep and effective work to take place in a short amount of time. To date, all of our clients have left the farm having gained deep insight into themselves and often a profound sense of peace.
