Energy Consumption Analysis
The type of new pump and motor installed and the set up of the daily filtration schedule can save you up to 50% on your pool-related electric bill. Here are some good reasons for replacing your existing pool pump with a new multi-speed pool filtration pump and motor:
- Save up to 50% on the cost to filter your pool, when compared to the typical single speed pump.
- Pump motor will run cooler and quieter, potentially extending the life of the motor.
- Filter will work more efficiently to keep pool water clearer.
- Cleaner pool water.
Selecting the Right Type of Multi-Speed Pump:
Two-Speed Pumps are typically adequate for older pools. The two speeds of the motor are preset and cannot be adjusted. The high speed is used when more water flow is needed; for example using a pool cleaner, starting up your roof-mounted solar heater, or after backwashing your Diatomaceous Earth (DE) or sand filter. Otherwise, the majority of your filtration should be done on the low speed. A two-speed pump and motor will need a controller capable of switching the motor speeds automatically.
Four-Speed Pumps can be used in more complicated pools that have a need for varying flow rates for differing applications; such as fountains, spas, solar heaters, waterfalls, or other similar products. All four speeds can be set at the speeds appropriate for each application. A four-speed pump and motor will need a controller capable of switching the motor speeds automatically.
Variable-Speed Pumps are capable of performing just as well as two- and four-speed pumps, in addition to more. Variable speed pumps provide ultimate flexibility. They can be programmed to run at more than four speeds and at the desired flow rate for each application. Variable speed pumps and motors need no additional controls.
