Digital Die Cutting

The Digital Die Cutter at Thomas Reprographics is a fully automated, digital cutting system capable of creating custom cutouts for your small and large format signs and graphics. The Digital Die Cutter opens up unlimited creative possiblities for your POP displays, trade show booth graphics, ceiling danglers and more. Why Digital Is Better Because the cutter is a completely digital system, there’s no need to create costly hard tool dies for the cutout pattern. It uses a special camera technology called i-cut to ensure the cut matches the print every time. During operation, the on-board camera optically locates and analyzes the position of special registration marks, which have been strategically placed in the job file and printed along with the image. Then i-cut’s algorithms compare the actual registration-mark location with the ideal location. Using this data, the cutter can correct for linear and non-linear distortion dynamically. This is a major advantage over fixed dies, which can be repositioned, but can’t adjust for skew or stretch.
