Oregon State University Energy Center

This co-generation energy center facility is Oregon State's first LEED Platinum project. The new 23,000 square foot Energy Center combines heat and power capacity of 5.5 MW of electricity and 250,000 lbs per hour of steam generation capacity. The facility produces 50 percent of the electricity needed to run the campus, as well as steam to heat and provide hot water for buildings. The main equipment consists of a Gas Fired Turbine, Gas Fired HRSG and two Aux Boilers. The project also includes underground steam lines that tie into multiple campus buildings. Sustainable features include an on-site water treatment system, rainwater harvesting & re-use, passive ventilation systems for the plant, radiant heating & cooling for the occupied spaces, natural daylighting methods, low VOC materials and recycled materials.
