Description
Cast polymer molding is a process whereby liquid chemicals are reacted together and polymerized into a solid plastic material (rigid or elastomer). Typically castable polymers include urethane, polyester, epoxy, and silicone. Open cast molding is typically used for large or low quantity applications where it is not practical to use traditional injection molding processes.
UPG operates a variety of cast equipment including computer control mixing machines, batch tanks, degassers, heat tables, and batch ovens. We have cast parts are large as 400 pounds and have the in-house chemists to engineer the right material for your application. We are able to insert mold, add fillers, and custom color as needed.
UPG offers full service material development services and house a in-house polymer chemist and plastics quality lab. We have the ability to engineer and characterize custom materials for your specific application. The facility is ISO 9001:2008 registered and follows Lean Manufacturing practices.
