1990 Mount Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa (750ml)
Opulent and chewy with lots of ripe fruit flavors and spicy, buttery oak shadings. Serves up a rich core of black cherry, currant and plum-tinged fruit and finishes with a delicious encore of fruit and oak. Wonderful depth, richness, balance and finesse.

#7 - Wine Spectator Top 100 of 1993
Here again is a wine that begs the question, "When the forward fruit fades, will the structure carry the wine?" There is no question that things will hold together another five years here, and there is also no question that the wine is wonderfully enjoyable now. Its focus is keen, and its fruit remains at its heart, but there is not much complexity showing itself and this one, like the Duckhorn, will have to go against the grain of the vintage to hang on well into its third decade. It has a chance. Two stars when first reviewed.
